Shutters are quoted per window, not per house, and the same room can vary hugely depending on the openings in it. Understanding the drivers lets you steer the budget rather than just receiving a number.

Area first
Almost every quote starts with how many square metres of panel the window needs. A large picture window costs more than two small ones of the same combined area, because of the framing and the panel construction required to keep big panels flat.
This is why café-style is meaningfully cheaper on the same opening, you are buying roughly half the panel.
Material and finish
Engineered cores sit at the lower end, hardwood above them, with stained finishes carrying a premium over painted because of the timber selection and the finishing process. Waterproof ABS sits near mid-range painted timber.
Bespoke colours cost more than standard whites, as they require a specific finishing run.
Configuration and shape
Tier-on-tier adds frame, hinges and panels. Bays add corner posts and multiple facets. Shaped and arched heads require templating and specialist manufacture. Each is a legitimate cost, and each is worth knowing about before you fall in love with a configuration.

What is included in ours
Our quotes are for supply and fit: survey, manufacture, installation and making good the fixing points. Jonathan or Tony carry out the survey and the fit, so there is no separate fitter's charge and no commission-based salesperson in the chain.
Common questions
Why do quotes vary so much between companies?
Material grade, where the panels are manufactured, and whether a commission-paid salesperson is in the chain. Comparing quotes only works when the specification is the same, so ask what timber, what frame and what finish.
Do you charge for the survey?
No, the home survey and written quote are free, and there is no obligation attached to them.
Is there a discount for doing the whole house?
Doing several windows in one visit and one manufacturing run is more efficient, and that is reflected in the quote. We price the job in front of us rather than running blanket promotions.
How firm is the quoted price?
Because we measure in person, the quote is based on real dimensions rather than estimates, so it does not move unless you change the specification.
